Jesus Is…Immanuel
If we’re going to know Jesus more fully, we don’t start in Matthew. We don’t start in the gospels. We start in Isaiah. Isaiah is a book about Israel and redemption. It is a book of hope and anticipation. It’s also a book about judgment and punishment. The reason why Isaiah is often referred to as the “Messianic Prophet” is because the hope and anticipation he is pointing to is going to find its ultimate fulfillment in the Messiah.
