Title: Involvement Minister

 

Purpose

To lead and develop the congregation’s involvement and connection ministries by helping every member find meaningful ways to serve, connect, and grow. The Involvement Minister will foster participation across ministries, support Christian service outreach, and cultivate relationships that strengthen the body of Christ at Oldham Lane.

 

Expected Outcomes

  • Increase participation of members in ministries, classes, and service opportunities.
  • Stronger communication and cooperation between elders, deacons, staC, and membership.
  • Improve member retention and follow-up for new families, visitors, and inactive members.
  • Enhance outreach presence in the Abilene community and the surrounding community.
  • Promote a culture of involvement where every member understands their role in the mission of the church.

 

Accountability

The involvement minister serves under the direction of the elders and collaborates closely with ministers, deacons, and ministry leaders.

 

Key Responsibilities

Member Involvement and Engagement

  • Identify and connect members with areas of service that match their gifts, interests, and spiritual maturity.
  • Maintain and expand a comprehensive system to track member participation and ministry involvement.
  • Develop and oversee processes for recruiting, training, and equipping members for leadership in teaching, service, and outreach.
  • Encourage and assist deacons in organizing and maintaining eCective ministry areas, fostering active participation and accountability.
  • Lead initiatives that draw members into greater community life, including small groups, service teams, and intergenerational fellowship.

 

Discipleship and Education

  • Teach Bible classes regularly and substitute in the pulpit ministry as needed.
  • Help coordinate selection, development, or revision of adult educational materials and curriculum in collaboration with the adult education team and other staC.
  • Promote spiritual growth opportunities through classes, retreats, or seminars that support Christian engagement and service.

 

Ministry Coordination and Support

  • Work closely with the elders and ministry staC to plan, implement, and evaluate involvement strategies that align with Oldham Lane’s mission.
  • Serve as liaison and encourager for deacons and ministry leaders, ensuring consistent communication with the eldership.
  • Participate in staC and elders’ meetings, providing input on congregational health, engagement, and service impact.
  • Assist in church events, funerals, weddings, and member visitation as needed.

 

Outreach and Evangelism

  • Coordinate evangelism and community involvement initiatives in collaboration with ministry teams.
  • Partner with deacons and members to organize service projects, benevolence outreach, and local evangelism activities.
  • Use technology (e.g., website, social media, worship presentations) to promote ministry involvement and church events.
  • Support and encourage participation in mission eCorts—both local and foreign.

 

Leadership and Professional Growth

  • Model a Christ-centered, servant-leadership approach that inspires involvement and unity within the congregation.
  • Stay committed to personal Bible study, prayer, and continuing education in ministry development and communication.
  • Mentor volunteers and future leaders through intentional engagement and leadership development opportunities.

 

Qualifications

  • Deep commitment to living and teaching the Scriptures and modeling servant leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, motivate, and communicate eCectively with people of all ages.
  • Prior experience in ministry coordination, teaching, or outreach preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, administrative, and team-building skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Bible, Ministry, Christian Education, or related field preferred.
